Spalding was one of my favorite neurotics...I will trully miss him
PENNDOT Eyes Tollbooths for I-80 (Standard Speaker March 2, 2004)
Good thing I trekked across the country way back when I did. Seems the open highway is gonna be clogged with traffic tolls. They are possibly looking at 10 tollbooths spread out over thirty miles intervals across the state! Obviously, Pennsylvania’s higher-ups took a look around to see just how much more then could slow things down in the MOST backward state in the union. They realized they needed to trap more people, because too many were escaping via the highways.
On the up side: the roads will be nicely paved (where the tollbooths are!)
And to add insult to injury PENNDOT is also bouncing around the idea of hiking the gas tax, but not until the elections are over (of course!)
The only decent thing about I-80 is it is a speedy escape route from this accursed state. And we have to stop that don’t we?
Emissions Testing (Standard Speaker March 2, 2004)
I might as well rant about this emission testing too while I’m moaning about PENNDOT. As if my poor car makes more pollution than the diesel payload Trucks and the heavy machinery that are Strip Mining the hills of Pennsylvania, I can’t believe that!
Like we need to be spending more money on our vehicles, c’mon! If the state wants our vehicles inspected (for any reason) it ought to be done at their expense and NOT ours! Not to say that maintence on a person’s vehicle is anyone’s responsibility but the owner, but $15 and now between $25 and $30 for a sticker on your windsheild!!!!! C’mon! (Oh wait. I said that already.)
